MA graduation collection, Fashion and Collection Design
2017
The materials developed for this collection are an expression of a moment in heavy rain somewhere deep in a city, much like the ending scene of the movie Blade Runner. The liquid plastic on the surface of the textiles captures the light like drops of water. The heavily falling, yet see-through looks are inspired by the feel and image of wearing a wet dress. While the material development was based on how I have felt myself and how I further imagine the feeling of walking in the rain, the broader inspiration behind the collection draws from an exploration of a variety of expressions of a dress, a woman and perfect timing, like for example Ramona walking down the stairs to a party in the movie La Grande Bellezza, casually wearing a thin, skin-toned, shimmering catsuit. In the collection the cut sensitive to movement and material sensitive to light are meant to subtly highlight the feminine art and the present moment.
