Triggers – Material study on the body
MA thesis
2018

Company collaborations: Santoni Shanghai & Lapuan Kankurit
Scholarship: Tex-Inno ry scholarship

This thesis collection is a study of materials, taking the body and the wearer as an inspiration source.

Through a series of multisensorial and experimental material workshops, themes of comfortable and uncomfortable, the sensations of wearing and not wearing, and people’s highly personal experiences with the materials through memories and associations arose. These experiments resulted in a mini collection of garments that when worn can trigger controversial feelings, in combination with the aesthetics inspired by sound, smell and touch.

Knits were mostly developed in Shanghai, China, by Santoni Pioneer Program for seamless and circular knitting. The woven fabrics were realized by Lapuan Kankurit weaving mill.
